Description and operationManual operation - interior lamp(s)

To illuminate the interior lamps, the CCU switches the common input from the lamps (C593-A) to earth (not shown) when it detects that a door has opened or that a handset unlock request has been received by the anti-theft alarm system. The CCU disconnects the earth to extinguish the interior lamps when one of the four conditions, given in Description above, occurs.

Manual operation - interior lamp(s)

On three door models, a slider switch in the interior lamp unit can be selected to OFF, doors (automatic) operation or ON. In the ON position, the switch connects to an earth through one of the lamp fixings to permanently illuminate the bulb. In the OFF position, the switch breaks the connection with the CCU to prevent the bulb illuminating when the CCU switches the common input to earth.

On five door models, latching push switches in the front and rear interior lamps can be latched in to permanently illuminate the lamps or latched out for doors (automatic) operation. When the switches are latched in, they connect to black wires providing an earth from the front (C355-1) and rear (C356-3) interior lamps to the earth header joint (C550-6). On the front interior lamp, latching push switches also operate the map lamps; when latched in the switches connect to an earth through one of the lamp fixings to illuminate the bulb.
