1 .
Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to
Specifications
(Section 414-
00)
2 .
Remove the LH valve cover. For additional information, refer to
Valve Cover LH (12.29.43)

3 .
Remove the RH valve cover. For additional information, refer to
Valve Cover RH (12.29.44)

4 .
Remove the viscous fan assembly. For additional information, refer to
Cooling Fan (26.25.19)

NOTE :
Make sure the camshaft lobe is opposite the camshaft roller follower, prior to removal.
NOTE :
Mark each camshaft roller follower and lash adjuster. Make sure each component is returned to its
original fitted position.
Using the special tool, remove the camshaft roller followers.
Depress the valve spring.
6 .
Rotate the engine as required to access the remaining camshaft roller followers.
