a. Check the inverter radiator cap.

1. If there are water stains or foreign matter on the rubber packing, clean it with water and finger scouring.
2. Check that the metal, resin, and rubber parts of the cap are not deformed, cracked, or broken.
3. Check that the packing is not swollen.
4. Check that the vacuum valve is not stuck.

b. Check the operation of the inverter radiator cap.

1. Using the radiator cap tester, slowly pump the tester and check that air comes out from the vacuum valve.

Pumping speed: 1 pump per 3 seconds

NOTE:  Be sure to pump at a constant speed.

HINT:  If air does not come out from the vacuum valve, replace the inverter radiator cap.

2. Pump the radiator cap tester and measure the relief valve opening pressure.

Pumping speed: 1 pump per second.

NOTE:  This pump speed is only for the first pump (in order to close the vacuum valve). The pump speed can be reduced after the first
pump stroke.

HINT:

Use the maximum reading as the opening pressure.

If the opening pressure is less than the minimum standard value, replace the radiator cap.
