Removal

ENGINE HOOD / DOOR: HOOD SUPPORT ROD: REMOVAL

REMOVAL

NOTICE:
-

As much as possible, avoid touching the stroke portions of the rod to prevent foreign matter from attaching to it. Be sure to hold the
cylinders while servicing.

-

Do not wear cotton gloves or other similar materials when handling the rod. Fibers may attach to the rod and result in gas leaks.

HINT:
-

Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.

-

The procedures listed below are for the LH side.

1. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Engine/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Engine

Assembly/Removal

2. REMOVE FRONT UPPER FENDER PROTECTOR LH See: Hood Latch Release Cable/Service and Repair/Removal

3. REMOVE HOOD SUPPORT ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Using a screwdriver, remove the hood support assembly while releasing the 2 clips.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
NOTE: Remove the hood support assembly while supporting the hood by hand.

4. REMOVE BRACKET HOOD STAY LH

(a) Remove the bolt and bracket hood stay LH.

NOTE: Remove the bracket hood stays while supporting the hood by hand.

5. REMOVE HOOD SUPPORT BRACKET LH

(a) Remove the 2 bolts and hood support bracket LH.

NOTE: Remove the hood support brackets while supporting the hood by hand.
