Installation

ENGINE HOOD / DOOR: HOOD SUPPORT ROD: INSTALLATION

INSTALLATION

NOTICE:
-

As much as possible, avoid touching the stroke portions of the rod to prevent foreign matter from attaching to it. Be sure to hold the
cylinders while servicing.

-

Do not wear cotton gloves or other similar materials when handling the rod. Fibers may attach to the rod and result in gas leaks.

-

Do not apply any load to the cylinders in the horizontal direction in order to prevent the rod from being deformed.

HINT:
-

Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.

-

The procedures listed below are for the LH side.

1. INSTALL HOOD SUPPORT BRACKET LH

(a) Install the hood support bracket LH with the 2 bolts.

Torque: 22 Nm (224 kgf-cm, 16 ft-lbf)

NOTE: Install the hood support brackets while supporting the hood by hand.

2. INSTALL BRACKET HOOD STAY LH

(a) Install the bracket hood stay LH with the bolt.

Torque: 22 Nm (224 kgf-cm, 16 ft-lbf)

NOTE: Install the bracket hood stays while supporting the hood by hand.

3. INSTALL HOOD SUPPORT ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Attach the 2 clips to install the hood support assembly.

Install the hood support assembly while supporting the hood by hand.

-

Check that the hood support assembly is engaged in the ball joint and it cannot be pulled out.

4. INSTALL FRONT UPPER FENDER PROTECTOR LH See: Hood Latch Release Cable/Service and Repair/Installation
