Oil Pan: Service and Repair
OIL PAN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L5]
WARNING:

Hot engines and engine oil can cause severe burns. Turn off the engine and wait until it and the engine oil have cooled.

A vehicle that is lifted but not securely supported on safety stands is dangerous. It can slip or fall, causing death or serious injury. Never work
around or under a lifted vehicle if it is not securely supported on safety stands.

Continuous exposure to USED engine oil has caused skin cancer in laboratory mice. Protect your skin by washing with soap and water
immediately after working with engine oil.

Parts for engines manufactured in Mexico and Hiroshima cannot be used interchangeably as the engine will not operate correctly resulting in a
serious malfunction. To prevent this, when replacing parts refer to the 'VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER (VIN) CODE' table below and
verify the engine's place of manufacture before performing the servicing. See: Application and ID/Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) Code
NOTE:

Before removing the oil pan, loosen the bolts securing the engine and transaxle, and secure an approx. 3 mm (0.1 in) clearance between the engine
and the transaxle.
1. Remove the battery and battery tray. See: Starting and Charging/Battery/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement
2. Remove the air cleaner, air hose and fresh air duct component. See: Intake Manifold/Service and Repair
3. Remove the aerodynamic under cover No.2. See: Body and Frame/Splash Guard/Service and Repair/Aerodynamic Under Cover No.2
Removal/Installation
4. Remove the front wheel and tire (RH). See: Steering and Suspension/Suspension/Service and Repair
5. Remove the splash shield (RH).
6. Drain the engine oil. See: Engine Oil/Service and Repair
7. Remove in the order indicated in the table.
8. Install in the reverse order of removal.
9. Refill with the specified type and amount of the engine oil. See: Engine Oil/Service and Repair
10. Start the engine and confirm that there is no oil leakage.

If there is oil leakage, repair or replace the applicable part.
11. Inspect the oil level. See: Engine Oil/Testing and Inspection
