Heat Hazard Sensor: Testing and Inspection
SYSTEM TEST
1.
Remove sensor, then wrap sensor and a thermometer with aluminum foil and place into a suitable container filled with oil.
2.
Connect battery voltage and test lamp to the electrical connector sensor terminals.
3.
Using a suitable heater, gradually heat the oil. Test lamp should illuminate when oil temperature is between 248-284°F, (120-140°C).
CAUTION: Do not exceed 302°F (150°C) when heating oil.
4.
If sensor does not operate within specified limit, replace heat hazard sensor.
RESISTANCE
1.
Disconnect electrical connector from thermo sensor.
2.
Check for continuity between thermo sensor terminals using an ohmmeter.
3.
If there is no continuity between terminals, replace sensor.
