Front Steering Knuckle: Service and Repair
Installation
1. Install wheel hub; then, using suitable press, press in new hub bolts.
2. Install steering knuckle.
3. Install new dust cover as follows:
a. Mark new dust cover in same place as on old cover.
b. Align new dust cover and steering knuckle marks, then press in dust cover using suitable steel plate and bearing installer set tool No. 49 F027
0A1, or equivalent.
4. Install snap ring, then tap new oil seal in evenly with suitable hammer and oil seal installer tool No. 49 V001 795, or equivalent. Coat seal lip with
grease.
5. Press in front wheel hub assembly using wheel hub puller tool No. 49 G033 1A1, or equivalent, then install steering knuckle front wheel hub.
6. Install lower arm ball joint, then lower arm ball joint bolt.
7. Install upper lateral link ball joint, then upper leading link ball joint as described under Lateral Link.
8. Install tie rod end ball joint as described under Power Steering Gear, then ABS wheel speed sensor.
9. Install disc plate, then brake caliper assembly as described under Disc Brakes.
