MX-6 L4-1991cc 2.0L DOHC (1993)
1. Hand-tighten the pressure pipe fitting to the gear housing, being careful not to damage the 0-ring.
2. Hand-tighten bolt A.
3. Tighten bolt B to the specified torque.
4. Tighten bolt A and the pressure pipe fitting to the specified torque.
Disassembly

1.
Drain steering gear oil and secure steering gear and linkage in suitable vise.
2.
Remove oil pipes and solenoid valve, Fig. 21.
3.
Scribe alignment marks on tie rod ends and tie rods, then remove tie rod ends and the locknuts.
4.
Remove spring clips, boot wires and boots.
5.
Uncrimp washers and remove tie rods from rack.
6.
Loosen locknut and remove adjust cover, spring and pressure pad.
7.
Protect outer box with cloth and remove it with a pipe wrench, then remove oil seal with a screwdriver.
8.
Remove mounting brackets and bushings.
Assembly
1.
Install outer box in rack housing. Coat seals and O-rings with transmission fluid.
2.
Protect outer box with a cloth and tighten it with a pipe wrench.
3.
Stake between outer box and the rack housing with a center punch.
4.
Using suitable pipe, install oil seal.
5.
Install pressure pad and spring in gear housing.
6.
Apply thread sealant to threads of adjust cover.
7.
Install adjust cover to gear housing, torquing to 39-48 inch lbs., then loosen it 35°.
8.
Using tool 490180510B or equivalent, and a pull scale, measure pinion torque.
