Measure the clearance around the entire circumference, and select shims equivalent to the maximum clearance.

The maximum allowable number of adjustment shims is seven.

14. Measure the clearance as shown.
15. Remove the bearing housing and the SST.
16. Remove the bearing race from the bearing housing.
17. Install the required shim(s) and press the bearing race into the bearing housing by using the SST.
18. Install the bearing race into the bearing cover.

19. Install the bearing housing. Tighten to 19 - 25 Nm (14 - 18 ft. lbs.).
20. Install the SSTs (preload adapter, preload attachment) onto the output gear.

NOTE:  Measure several times and calculate the average value.
