Air Diverter Solenoid: Testing and Inspection
Split Air Solenoid Valve
Manual Transmission
Split Air Solenoid Valve
1.
Connect a voltmeter to solenoid valve terminal "L/B" and ground.
2.
Connect a jumper wire between ECU terminal 1M and ground.
3.
Switch ignition "ON."
4.
Shift into 5th gear and check that voltmeter reading is below 2.5V. In any other gear position, reading should be approximately 12V.
NOTE: At high altitude, reading will always be below 2.5V. California specification vehicles with less than 20,000 miles (34,000 km) will read a
constant 12V.
Split air solenoid valve output voltage can be checked at ECU terminal 3I. With ignition "ON" and transmission in 5th gear, terminal voltage should be
below 2.5V. In other gear positions, voltage should be approximately 12V.
Automatic Transmission
Oil Pressure Switch Connector
1.
Disconnect transmission oil pressure switch and connect a jumper wire between connector and ground.
2.
Connect a voltmeter to split air solenoid terminal "L/B" and ground.
3.
Turn ignition "ON."
4.
Shift into "D" range. Voltmeter should read below 2.5V. In other ranges, reading should be approximately 12V.
Split air solenoid valve output voltage can be checked at ECU terminal 3I. With transmission in "D" range, terminal voltage should be below 2.5V. In
other ranges, voltage should be approximately 12V.
