DESCRIPTION
Some 2009 Tribute Gasoline vehicles equipped with a 2.5L engine built from October 27, 2008 to November 28, 2008 may exhibit an accessory drive
related high-pitched metallic whine / whistle noise during a cold start. The noise may be caused by the smooth idler pulley (A).
Noise will be most noticeable between 1100-1500 RPM, and may be more noticeable on engine deceleration from 1500 RPM. Noise will be eliminated
with accessory drive belt removed.
Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Verify customer concern.
2. Replace the accessory drive smooth idler pulley. Refer to Workshop Manual section 01-10b - ACCESSORY DRIVE BELT IDLER PULLEY
REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - 2.5L.
3. Verify repair.
