NOTE: Verify the steering wheel is in the unlocked position before removal. 

2. Remove the brake jounce hose clip.

3. Pull the brake jounce hose downward slightly to remove the hose from the bracket and position the brake jounce hose aside.

4. Remove the anti-lock brake system (ABS) wheel speed sensor harness bolt.

5. Remove the upper stabilizer bar link nut.

NOTE: Use the hex holding feature to prevent the ball stud from turning while removing or installing the stabilizer bar link nut. 

6. Remove the 2 strut-to-knuckle nuts and bolts.

7. Remove the 4 strut upper bushing nuts.

NOTE: Reference mark the 4 strut upper bushing plate nuts. 

8. Remove the strut and spring assembly.

CAUTION: Do not allow the axle shaft to move outboard. Over-extension of the tripod CV joint can result in the separation of internal parts, causing
failure of the axle shaft.

Installation

1. Position the strut and spring assembly upper mounting plate into the inner fender.

2. Align the 4 strut upper bushing nuts to the reference marks.

Tighten to 40 Nm {4.0 kgf-m, 30 ft-lbf}.

3. Install the 2 strut-to-knuckle bolts and nuts.

-

Tighten to 115 Nm {11.5 kgf-m, 85 ft-lbf}.

4. Install the upper stabilizer bar link nut.

-

Tighten to 63 Nm {6.3 kgf-m, 46 ft-lbf}.

-

Remove the 4 nuts.

5. Install the ABS wheel speed sensor harness bolt.

-

Tighten to 15 Nm {1.5 kgf-m, 11 ft-lbf}.

6. Position the brake jounce hose to the bracket and install the brake jounce hose clip.

7. Check the front end alignment and adjust as necessary. See  See: Alignment/Service and Repair/Wheel Alignment Angles.

Shock Absorber Removal/Installation

SHOCK ABSORBER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. Remove the rear quarter trim panel. See - See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Trim Panel/Locations.

2. Remove the wheel and tire. See  See: Wheels and Tires/Description and Operation.

3. Using a suitable jackstand, support the rear suspension.

4. Remove and discard the upper shock absorber nuts, washer and bushing.

To install, tighten to 40 Nm {4.0 kgf-m, 30 ft-lbf}.
