5. Remove and discard the lower shock absorber nut, washer and bolt. 

-

To install, tighten to 175 Nm {17.5 kgf-m, 129 ft-lbf}.

6. Remove the shock absorber and the bushing.

7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Spring Removal/Installation

SPRING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - HYBRID

Removal

NOTE: LH shown, RH similar. 

1. Remove the wheel and tire. See  See: Wheels and Tires/Description and Operation.

2. Remove the brake hose bracket-to-wheel knuckle bolt.

3. Remove the 2 brake caliper guide bolts and position the brake caliper aside.

Support the caliper using mechanics wire.

CAUTION: Do not allow the brake caliper to hang from the brake hose or damage to the hose can occur. 

4. Support the wheel knuckle and remove and discard the upper ball joint nut.

5. Remove and discard the lower shock absorber nut, washer and bolt.

6. Remove and discard the upper arm inner bolt and remove the upper arm.

Loosen the lower arm inner bolt.

7. Carefully lower the wheel knuckle support.

NOTE: Note the position of the coil spring insulator and coil spring for installation. 

8. Remove the coil spring.

Installation

1. Align the coil spring and coil spring insulator to the previously noted position.

2. Carefully raise the wheel knuckle support.

3. Position the upper control arm and install the upper arm inner bolt. 

-

Tighten to 115 Nm {11.5 kgf-m, 85 ft-lbf}.

4. Install the lower shock absorber bolt, washer, and nut.

-

Tighten to 175 Nm {17.5 kgf-m, 129 ft-lbf}.

5. Install the upper ball joint nut and remove the wheel knuckle support. 

-

Tighten to 63 Nm {6.3 kgf-m, 46 ft-lbf}.

6. Position the brake caliper and install the 2 brake caliper guide pin bolts.

-

Tighten to 35 Nm {3.5 kfg-m, 26 ft-lbf}.

7. Install the brake hose bracket-to-wheel knuckle bolt.
