Trailing Arm: Service and Repair
Removing and Installing Complete Left or Right Trailing Arm
33 32 000 - Removing and installing complete left or right trailing arm
Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove brake disc See: Brakes and Traction Control/Disc Brake System/Brake Rotor/Disc/Service and Repair/Removal and
Replacement/Removing and Installing/Replacing Both Brake Discs (Rear)

Only on right side: Remove lead for brake pad sensor from trailing arm

Disconnect pulse generator See: Brakes and Traction Control/Antilock Brakes / Traction Control Systems/Wheel Speed Sensor/Service and
Repair/Replacing a Rear Pulse Generator.

Remove stabilizer link from trailing arm See: Stabilizer Bar/Service and Repair/Rear Axle/Replacing Stabilizer Link for Stabilizer Bar on Left or
Right

Danger of injury!
Failure to comply with the following instructions may result in the vehicle slipping off the lifting platform and critically injuring other
persons.
When supporting components, make sure that
-
the vehicle can no longer be raised or lowered
-
the vehicle does not lift off the locating plates on the lifting platform
Support trailing arm from underneath using a workshop jack.
Release nut and remove screws (1).
Installation:
Replace self-locking nut.
Tightening torque 33 32 1AZ See: Control Arm/Specifications/Control Arms and Struts (Rear).
Mark position of eccentric adjustment washer to trailing arm to simplify subsequent adjustment of rear axle.
