belt failure depends upon how you use your vehicle and the level of maintenance. However, in the event that the engine timing belt does break, the
engine may sustain major damage to the pistons and valves.
As a precaution, Mitsubishi Motor Sales of America, Inc. is implementing a Customer Satisfaction Campaign. Your authorized Mitsubishi Motors Dealer
will inspect your vehicle and, if necessary, replace the timing belt at no charge to you.
WHAT YOU SHOULD DO
Please contact your Authorized Mitsubishi Motors Dealer immediately to schedule a service appointment. Replacing the timing belt takes approximately
three and one half hours, but may take longer depending on your dealer's schedule. However, you should be prepared to leave your vehicle one full day
since repairs require a cool engine.
Note:
This free service will not be available beyond six months from the date indicated at the top of this letter.
The expense for timing belts previously replaced as routine maintenance is not reimbursable under the provisions of this campaign.
