LOOSE REAR CARGO AREA WHEEL HOUSING CARPET
PURPOSE
This bulletin has procedures for repairing loose rear wheel housing carpet in the rear cargo area of the 1997 and 1998 model year Montero Sport.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Symptom
The carpet is loose (it should fit tightly) on the rear interior cargo area panels on either or both rear wheel housings.
Cause
Insufficient adhesive application during production allows the carpet to loosen.
Remedy
Repair the loose fitting carpet by pulling back the carpet applying a new application of spray adhesive, then fitting the carpet securely using a trim stick
and hand roller. Complete procedures follow.
PRODUCTION FIX
Improvements for carpet attachment are being investigated, and the amount of carpet securing adhesive applied at the factory is being increased.
