POINTS IN WAVEFORM MEASUREMENT
The wheel speed sensor cable moves in relation to motion of the front or rear suspension. Therefore, it is likely that it has an open circuit only
when driving on rough roads but it functions normally when driving on smooth roads. It is recommended to observe sensor output voltage
waveform also under special conditions, such as rough road driving.
Resistance/Insulation Measurement
Pole Piece At Speed Sensor Tip
1. Check whether any metallic foreign material has adhered to the pole piece at the speed sensor tip, and, if so, remove it. Also, check whether the
pole piece is damaged. Replace as necessary.
NOTE: The pole piece can become magnetized because of the magnet put into the speed sensor, so that metallic foreign material easily adheres to
it. Also the pole piece may not be able to sense correctly the wheel rotation speed if it is damaged.
Measure Resistance Between Speed Sensor Terminals
2. Measure the resistance between the speed sensor terminals. The standard value is 1,300 - 1,500 ohms. If the internal resistance of the speed sensor
is not within the standard value, replace it with a new speed sensor.
