1.
Remove factory plug from fender
2.
Remove antenna "keys," place on customer's key ring
3.
Remove spanner nut
4.
Remove grommet and separate into "inner" and "outer" halves
5.
Substantially loosen bolt "A"
6.
Reinstall "inner" grommet onto antenna housing and place antenna into hole in quarter panel
7.
Place "outer" grommet and spanner nut on top of antenna and tighten spanner nut for a water-tight seal
CAUTION: THIS OPERATION ALIGNS ANTENNA PROPERLY TO BODY. DO NOT TRY TO ALIGN USING ANTENNA SUPPORT
BRACKET.
8.
Install bottom of antenna support bracket into threaded hole in body using a 6 mm bolt (10 mm long) (this bolt is not supplied with the antenna)
9.
Retighten bolt "A"
10.
Connect antenna cable
11.
Wire tie (or tape) power antenna connector lead to antenna cable
12.
Check radio reception on known weak AM station with antenna fully extended
Left-Side Inner Trunk Panel Modification
Early production DL vehicles built prior to September 12, 1988 are equipped with a left-side inner trunk panel which incorporates a concave depression.
This interferes with mounting of either a power or manual antenna. On these early vehicles, the customer has two options:
1.
Replace the panel - order P/N 7472.G2 suggested retail price $58.56, dealer net $38.06
2.
Cut-out the portion of the depression that interferes with the antenna
