Suspension Strut / Shock Absorber: Service and Repair
Shock Absorber Replacement

Front

REMOVE 

1. Raise vehicle on jackstands or centered on a frame contact type hoist.

2. Remove the flag nut and bolt, mounting the shock absorber requiring removal, from the lower crossmember on the frame.

NOTE:  The shock absorber requiring removal, can not be removed from the frame crossmember unless the lower mounting bolt for the opposite
shock absorber is also loosened.

3. Loosen but do not remove the lower mounting bolt for the shock absorber on the opposite side of the vehicle.
4. Louver the vehicle.

5. Remove the nut and bolt attaching the shock absorber to the rocker arm.

CAUTION:  The bolt mounting the stabilizer attaching link to the rocker arm must be loosened to allow removal of the shock absorber from the
rocker arm.

NOTE:  The stabilizer bar attaching link to rocker arm bolt only needs to be loosened not removed.
