8. Fit auxiliary chain tensioner (Special Tool 9401).
Figure shows left-hand side of auxiliary chain tensioner
NOTE: To adjust or check the timing, the mechanical auxiliary chain tensioners; must be fitted with the specified preload. The recess on the
plunger must just barely remain visible. Adjusting or checking the timing with a dial gauge is no longer required. The locking tools also serve as
adjustment gauges.
