Steering Gear: Service and Repair
Manual Steering Gear Replace
1.
Raise and support vehicle.
2.
Remove wheels and separate steering shaft at universal joint.
3.
Remove castle nuts from tie rod ends.
4.
Remove tie rods with a suitable puller.
5.
Remove front axle stone shield.
6.
Loosen steering gear to auxiliary carrier bolts.
7.
Remove torsion bar adjustment screws.
8.
Remove torsion bar adjustment levers and seals.
9.
Remove lower control arm and auxiliary carrier bolts.
10.
Remove carrier and steering gear with tie rods.
11.
Reverse procedure to install.
