2. Select vehicle type using the cursor keys.
3. Using the >> key, move from the vehicle type to the list of control units.
4. Select 'CDR23' with the cursor keys and press the >> key.
5. In the 'CDR23' menu, with the cursor keys on 'CDR23' press the >> key.
6. Select 'Control unit replacement' with the cursor keys and press the >> key.
7. Select 'Coding' with the cursor keys and press the >> key.
8. The message 'Coding read-out complete' will appear on the screen of the Porsche System Tester. Press the >> key.
9. Switch off ignition and replace car radio.

10. Switch on ignition. After replacement of the car radio, the vehicle data is installed under the menu 'Write coding' (see Section 7). Press the >> key.
11. System Tester displays 'Coding write-in complete'. Press the >> key.
12. Follow the instructions of the tester.

NOTE:  For a new car radio, also continue under step 13.

13. In the menu 'CDR23' to 'Coding', press the >> key.
14. In the menu 'Coding' select the 'Production mode' and press the >> key.
15. Select 'Production mode off' and confirm with the F8 key.
16. In the menu 'CDR23' to 'MOST actual installed components list'.

NOTE:
-

In the 'MOST actual installed components list' the detected installed components are displayed.

-

The detected installed components from the 'MOST actual installed components list' is compared with the 'MOST required installed
components list'.

17. In the menu 'CDR23' to 'MOST required installed components list'.
18. If the required items do not match the actual installed list, change the 'MOST required installed components list' to the status of the 'MOST actual

installed components list' by coding.

19. Leave the 'CDR23' << menu and read out the fault memory and delete as necessary.
20. Leave the 'CDR23' << menu.

NOTE:
-

Switch on the car radio. If the car radio cannot be switched on, or if it switches on but music cannot be heard, switch off the ignition and
remove ignition key. Close the doors and lock the car. Wait till the alarm system LED flashes "normal". Unlock vehicle and switch on the
radio again.

If the radio does not switch on after this procedure, proceed according to the Technical Manuals.

Resetting Antitheft Radio

Radio:

The radio reverts to the Code function when the battery is disconnected and is thus no longer ready for operation.

Remedy:

Input the radio code. If the code card is unavailable, the radio code can be read from the DME control module (under "Vehicle data"). The code is
also available from the Porsche IPAS.

Work Instructions After Disconnecting The Battery

 
Effect of disconnection or total discharge of the battery on electrical systems in the vehicle, subsequent measures: 

1. Never disconnect battery with engine running.
2. Never start engine without securely connected battery.
3. Do not use a boost charger to start the engine.
4. Whenever possible, use jump leads with over voltage protection.
5. Always disconnect the battery terminals before carrying out welding work on the vehicle.
6. Wiring harness plugs of control modules or other electronic components must be connected or disconnected with the ignition off.

Exception: vehicles with the additional equipment M 536 (alarm siren with tilt sensor).

Note concerning M 536: 

In order to avoid triggering the alarm siren (installed on right next to the battery) of vehicles with M 536, the battery must be disconnected with the
ignition on (all loads must be switched off beforehand).

Control module memories: 

Values and faults stored in the control modules can be deleted if the battery is disconnected or completely discharged.
