Slot position of camshafts at overlap

2. Use special tool adjusting gauge 9686 to fix camshafts.
2.1.

If necessary, turn the camshafts slightly using the gauge.

2.2.

Insert adjusting gauge into camshaft slots. The flat tool surface with the lettering faces towards the observer.

2.3.

Fasten gauge using a screw M8 (e.g. hexagon-head bolt M8 x 16). Tighten screw by hand only.

3. Fasten housing screws for the inlet and outlet camshafts and the auxiliary screw of the adjusting gauge.
3.1.

Turn the screws further alternately by approx. 90° each until the specified tightening torque is reached. This enables the camshafts to be
mounted without any distortion.

3.2.

Tighten housing screws M6 -1 and 2-. --> Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.)

3.3.

Tighten fastening screw M8 -3- for adjusting gauge -4-. --> Tightening torque: 23 Nm (17 ftlb.)

4. Insert guide rail screw with a new O-ring and tighten (hexagon socket M6, a/f 5). Grease O-ring with Optimol MP3. --> Tightening torque: 10 Nm

5. Fit the chain tensioner, side 4-6 (hexagon socket a/f 14). Fit chain tensioner with new aluminum sealing ring and tighten. --> Tightening torque: 80

Nm (59 ftlb.)
