Removing and Installing Rear Parking Brake Cable

Removing and installing rear brake cable for foot-operated parking brake 

Rear brake cable -E- means: From the deflector under the centre console -D- to the Quickfit lock in the brake drum on the rear wheel.

Note!

When performing various tasks on the rear axle, e.g. removing and installing the wheel bearing housing, the brake cable only needs to be detached
without removing the entire brake cable. The description at the end of the installation section can be used for this purpose.

Removal 
1. Move the actuating pedal of the foot-operated parking brake into zero position. To do this, pull the release lever on the dashboard.
2. Remove the cover in the footwell.

3. Fix the adjustment fixture using an -auxiliary pin (maximum 3.5 mm)-. In other words: Press the adjustment fixture together as far as possible

until the assembly bores are covered and the auxiliary pin can be inserted. The cover on the actuating mechanism does not need to be removed.
The auxiliary pin can be inserted through the cover.

4. Remove the centre console.
5. Lift the vehicle. 
6. Remove the relevant rear wheel.
