Description and operationThe Perimetric Alarm

deterrent. When the open door or the bonnet is closed, the alarm will become fully armed.

Each time the handset button is pressed, the radio signal code is changed in a sequence mirrored by the receiver in the alarm ECU. If the sequence is broken, (e.g. by handset battery renewal, or by temporary vehicle battery disconnection, etc.), it will be necessary to restore synchronisation. This can be done by ensuring that the driver’s door is unlocked with the key and pressing the handset RH button four times in quick succession, until the vehicle responds by locking the car.

The Perimetric Alarm

The perimetric alarm can only be set using the handset. Each door, the bonnet and the tail door incorporates a switch that closes as the door or bonnet is opened. When a switch is closed, an earth signal is sent to the alarm ECU on the P/O wire for the driver’s door, on P/W wires for the three other passenger doors, on a P/K wire for the taildoor and on a P/R wire for the bonnet.

If a door is opened when the alarm is armed, the alarm ECU sends an earth on the P/B wire to the horn circuit causing the horn to be sounded. Once triggered, the horn will sound for a period of 25 to 30 seconds - it can be silenced by pressing either button on the handset.

Engine Immobilisation (if fitted)

The engine is immobilised when the perimetric alarm is set, inhibiting the engine primary electrical circuits. Immobilisation is removed when the LH handset button is pressed.

Passive Engine Immobilisation

Even if the car is not locked, the passive immobilisation feature will be enabled approximately 20 seconds after ignition is switched OFF and the driver’s door has been opened. This state is indicated by the anti-theft alarm indicator flashing. While the door is open, the anti-theft alarm indicator illuminates continuously.

In this condition, the engine can be re-mobilised by pressing the LH button on the handset before operating the starter switch.
