Description and operationSingle Wipe

The MFU will now supply an earth on the LG/P wire via the wash/wipe switch on the U/LG wire to the wiper motor. The MFU will operate the wiper motor for a period of 0.65 seconds during each 6 second period as long as the intermittent wipe function is selected. The front wiper park is fed by the MFU on the N/LG wire. The LG/P wire is connected by an internal relay to the N/LG wire feeding the wiper motor. This control will continue as long as intermittent wipe is selected.

Single Wipe

When the right-hand steering column lever is pressed down momentarily, an earth is connected via the R/LG wire to the wiper motor and the wipers will perform a single operation. However, the wipers will continue to wipe while the lever remains depressed. Operation of this switch disconnects the MFU from the wiper motor and simultaneously provides an earth return for it via the B wire.

Wiper motor reverse and park When the wipers are switched off, the wiper park circuit will operate returning the wiper blades to their park position. The 12 volt supply on the G/S wire from fuse 13 is switched by the wiper motor park contacts to the front wiper relay (within the MFU) on a N/LG wire. The LG/P wire is connected by an internal relay to the N/LG wire feeding the wiper motor. When the correct park position is reached the contacts inside the wiper motor will disconnect the 12 volt supply on the LG/S wire and connect the N/LG wire to earth. Both terminals of the wiper motor are now at a negative potential producing regenerative braking of the motor.

Windscreen wash When the windscreen wash switch is operated the 12 volt supply on the G/S wire is switched on the LG/B wire to the front washer pump. The motor will operate as long as the wash switch is pressed.

Heated washer jets (where fitted) Unswitched power is supplied to heated washer jets 1 and 2 from fuse 15 in the passenger compartment fuse box on the LG/S wires. Earth is on a B wire.
