MFU Controlled Delay

In normal operation, the act of opening a door or unlocking the car with the handset will cause the courtesy lamp to illuminate and, after all the doors are closed again, the lamp will be switched OFF in one of the following ways:

1. The lamp will be dimmed linearly over a period of 2.0 ± 0.5 seconds, the first time that all the doors are closed after the ignition is turned OFF.

2. Subsequent opening and closing of a door will result in the courtesy lamp remaining lit for 16.0 ± 0.5 seconds, followed by the linear fade-out described in paragraph 1 above.

3. If the ignition is switched ON during the above 16 second period, then the 2 seconds fade-out will start immediately.

4. If a door is inadvertently left open or if a door switch becomes faulty, the courtesy lamp will be automatically switched OFF after an 8.0 ± 1.0 minutes time-out.

NOTE: Continuous sampling of the courtesy lamp load will initiate a shut-down in the event of a short-circuit. The lamp will be re-lit when the short-circuit is removed.

Other Interior Lamps

The boot/taildoor lamp is also fed from fuse 3, but is earthed via a G wire and the switch in the tail door.

Fuse 19 feeds a supply directly from the battery on the R/B wire to the glovebox lamp assembly which incorporates its own ON/OFF switch. The earth return for this lamp is on a B wire.
