OPERATION

Engine immobilisation is achieved on diesel models by disabling the main relay and the starter motor relay preventing the engine from being cranked and removing the supply from the engine control module.

Situated in the electrical circuits for the main relay and the starter motor relay is an immobiliser relay which is controlled by the anti-theft alarm ECU. With the anti-theft alarm armed the immobiliser relay is de-energised breaking the electrical circuits to the main relay and starter motor relay. When the anti-theft alarm is disarmed, the alarm ECU transmits a 125 Hz signal to the immobiliser relay causing it to energise. The energised immobiliser relay switches and completes the circuits to the main relay and the starter motor relay allowing the engine to be started.
