  Note
   
t  The gear selection mechanism and the selector lever cable cannot be separated from each other. They can only be removed together. When fitting, it may be necessary to make more space in the engine compartment. The air cleaner must be removed regularly.
t  The ventral console may have to be removed from the interior.
t  After fitting, check that the cable works smoothly and adjust it.
Removal:
–  Shift selector lever into position „P“.
–  Removing the gear selector handle → Chapter.
–  Removing central console → Bodywork, interior fitting work; Rep. gr.68.

–  Unscrew the 4 fixing bolts.
–  Remove the air filter housing → Rep. gr.24 and → Rep. gr.23.

–  Remove the securing disc.
–  Securing clips for selector lever cable must always be renewed.
–  Remove cable from ball head.
–  Raise vehicle.

–  Remove central soundproofing, bolts -1 ... 3-.
–  Dismount primary exhaust pipes with the catalyser and primary silencer → Rep. gr.26.

–  Remove the attachments -arrows- and extract the heat shield towards the rear.
–  Before refitting the selector lever cable, the selector lever in the vehicle must be moved to the „P“ position.

–  Remove the gear selection mechanism -arrow-.
Installation
Installation is carried out in reverse order.
–  Check the cable → Chapter before inserting in the gearbox.
–  Fit the components of the → Rep. gr.26.
–  Install heat shield → Rep. gr.66.

–  Insert the 4 securing bolts and tighten to 8 Nm.
–  After installation, the selector lever cable must be adapted → Chapter.
