Clutch identification
Clutch identification
A clutch manufactured by either „Sachs“ or „LuK“ may be installed.
If the gearbox is installed, the following procedure described must be carried out:
   
–  Remove central noise insulation -Fasteners 1 ... 3-.

There are a couple of notches -arrows- between the engine-A- and the gearbox -B- under the engine oil sump.
–  Check outer contour of flywheel through these notches.

–  In addition, in some engines a small cover plate -A- can be removed to enable inspection of flywheel's outer contour.
Round outer contour -arrows- = Sachs clutch = -A-
–  Removing and installing the Sachs clutch → Chapter

–  Repairing Sachs clutch → Chapter.
Outer contour with edges -arrows 1- and, in addition, a circumferential crease -arrow 2- = LuK clutch = -B-

–  Removing and installing the LuK clutch → Chapter
–  Repairing LuK clutch → Chapter.
