Checking airbag mounting components following an accident
It is essential to always renew all damaged mounting components - it is not permissible to reshape or rework damaged components.
The following components must be checked after an airbag has been triggered.
In the event of the front passenger airbag being triggered:
t  Central tube for dash panel; it must be possible to install passenger's airbag supports and passenger's airbag unit so that they are free of stress. Otherwise central tube should also be renewed.
t  Check the glove box for damage. Renew glove box if it is damaged.
If driver's airbag has been triggered:
t  Steering wheel: Remove the steering wheel and place it on a level surface (resting on rim). The full face of the steering collar must be in contact with the flat surface. If it does not, the steering wheel has to be renewed.
t  Check steering wheel for smoke residues. Renew steering wheel if such marks are found.
