Gearbox mounting, gearbox support and gearbox cross-member: Removing and installing Check the tool and equipment equivalence table according to the applicability between Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Hydraulic jack -V.A.G 1383 A-, see equivalent → Anchor t  Block of wood

Detaching –  Open quick release fasteners -2- and -3- and take off rear noise insulation.   Note

The flexible pipe connection (de-coupling element) on the front exhaust pipe must not be bent more than 10° – otherwise it can be damaged. –  Slacken nuts on front clamp -arrows-. –  Push clamp towards rear of vehicle to disconnect exhaust system.

–  Apply lifting column of engine and gearbox jack -V.A.G 1383 A- to gearbox from below (place a block of wood -1- between lifting column and gearbox). –  Slightly lift gearbox with engine and gearbox jack -V.A.G 1383 A-.

–  First unscrew bolts -1- and -2-, then bolts -3- and -4-.

–  Unscrew both nuts -arrows- and press the cross-member of the gearbox a little to the rear. –  Remove the cross-member of the gearbox through the resulting opening when pushing the clamp of the exhaust gas system to the rear.

–  Unscrew bolts -2- and detach gearbox mounting -1- from gearbox. Installing Installation is carried out in reverse order. Specified torques

Gearbox mounting -1- to gearbox t  Nuts M8-Pos. 2-, tightening torque: 23 Nm

Gearbox mounting to gearbox cross-member t  Nuts M8 -arrows-, tightening torque: 23 Nm

Gearbox cross-member to body t  Always replace the bolts M12 -item 3- and -item 4-. Tightening torque: 110 Nm + 90º (is equivalent to a quarter turn) t  Bolts M10 -item 1- and -item 2-, tightening torque: 65 Nm –  Align exhaust system without tension → Rep. gr.26
