Haldex Clutch: general fitting diagram > < Check the operation of the Haldex clutch closed
Check the operation of the Haldex clutch open
Check the operation of the Haldex clutch open
Check prerequisites:
t  Check the Haldex clutch oil level → Chapter.
t  Check the code and identification number of the engine control units and the ABS.
–  Position the vehicle on the lift.
  Caution
For safely reasons, position the vehicle on the lift so the wheels are not touching the ground.
During the check, proceed with caution to prevent damage.
–  Step on the clutch.
–  Start the engine.
–  Step on the clutch pedal, place in first gear and slowly start.
All 4 wheels should be turning.
–  Use the hand brake or the parking brake
The rear wheels should stop and the front wheels should continue to turn.
l  If the rear wheels are not turning:
the Haldex clutch is open; it is operating correctly.
l  If the rear wheels are turning:
the Haldex clutch is closed. Possible fault cause:
t  The main pressure regulation valve may be clogged
t  Mechanical fault in the Haldex clutch
t  The four-wheel drive control unit -J492- in the rear final group is faulty
t  The hand brake indicator lamp -F9- is faulty
