Right and left hand flanged shaft seals: replace (rear final group installed) Removing → Anchor. Fitting → Anchor. Check the tool and equipment equivalence table according to the applicability between Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter

Special tools and workshop equipment required

t	Lever for releasing -VW 681-, see equivalent → Anchor

t	Extractor -VW 681-, see equivalent → Anchor

t	Hose clamp -T10049-, see equivalent → Anchor

t	Tray -VAS 6208-, see equivalent → Anchor

t	Grease →  Parts catalogue

Removing The left and right hand seals are replaced in the same manner. –  Mount drive shaft → Running gear, shafts, steering; Rep. Gr.42. –  Place the drip tray -VAS 6208- under the final group. Removal of flanged shaft, left hand side:

–  Place an M8 nut on the thread of the extractor -T10037--arrow- until it is flush with the start of the thread. –  Remove the flanged shaft using the extractor -T10037 -. Removal of flanged shaft right hand side:

–  Place an M8 nut on the thread of the extractor -T10037--arrow- until it is flush with the start of the thread. –  Remove the flanged shaft using the extractor -T10037 -. Both sides (continued)

–  Extract the flanged shaft seal using the lever -VW 681-. Fitting

–  Lightly oil the outside diameter of the new seal and insert it until it reaches the end using the pressure element -T10049- without bending the seal. –  Fill space between the sealing lip and the dustcap halfway with grease → Parts catalogue.

–  Fasten the flanged shaft in a vice using protective jaws. –  Remove the old safety ring from the flanged shaft groove by pushing with a new ring -A-. –  Insert the flanged shaft by tapping with a plastic hammer and, if necessary, with a punch. –  Mount drive shaft → Running gear, shafts, steering; Rep. Gr.42. –  Check the rear final group oil level → Chapter.
