Replacing or installing air conditioner compressor and ancillary bracket

Engine codes 1Z, AFN, AHU and AVG

  Note
t  The ancillary bracket for air conditioner compressor can be removed and installed without the refrigerant circuit being opened.
t  Take the vehicle to a suitable workshop with specially trained mechanics if the air conditioner compressor must be removed.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1331-

1 - Hexagon bolt M8×22
q   25 Nm
2 - Ancillary bracket for alternator and air conditioner compressor
q   Part No. 028 903 139 T
q   Removing:
q   First remove alternator → Rep. Gr.27.
–  Remove air conditioner compressor -9- from ancillary bracket.
3 - Hexagon bolt M8×85
q   25 Nm
4 - Alternator
q   Removing and installing → Rep. Gr.27.
5 - Tensioning element for tensioning roller
6 - Socket head bolt M8×22
q   25 Nm
q   Qty. 3
7 - Hexagon nut M8
q   30 Nm
q   Qty. 4
8 - Hexagon bolt M8×85
q   25 Nm
9 - Air conditioner compressor
q   Remove air conditioner compressor → Chapter.
q   Remove from ancillary bracket:
–  Loosen hexagon bolts -11- by a few turns and drive back threaded bush on air conditioner compressor; continue unscrewing hexagon bolts.
Running-in procedures → Chapter.
10 - Poly V-belt
q   Removing and installing → Rep. Gr.13.
q   Poly V-belt routing → Fig..
11 - Hexagon bolt M10×112
q   45 Nm
q   Qty. 2
12 - Tensioning roller
q   Removing:
–  First loosen socket head screw M6 x 16 on tensioning element for tensioning roller and drive back tensioning roller using a rubber mallet.

  Note
When installing poly V-belt, ensure that it is correctly seated on poly V-belt pulley.
