–  Check first whether the vehicle has a coded radio. If so, the anti-theft code must be noted.
–  With the starter turned off, separate the ground from the battery
–  Remove the battery.
–  Release the connector support from the battery support.
–  Remove the battery support.
–  Remove the starter motor → Electrical system; Rep. Gr.27
–  Press the clutch pedal several times as far as it will go.
–  Tension the clutch cable and remove from the gearbox → Chapter.
–  Unplug the connector of the transmitter for the speedometer from the instrument panel.
–  Remove the transmitter of the number of revolutions of the engine -G28- located on the clutch housing.
–  Remove the connector for the reverse lights.
–  Unbolt the ground cable from the gearbox fixing bolt to the engine and release the bolt.
–  Disconnect the fixing cable next to the gearbox.
–  Remove the nut of the upper central threaded bolt linking the engine to the gearbox.
–  Separate the flexible breather tube of the engine block from the air filter.

–  Unscrew the fixing bolts -arrows- and separate the housing of the air filter upwards, disconnecting the flexible vacuum tubes.
–  Raise the vehicle.
–  Remove the lower right protection from the engine.
–  Separate the exhaust gas system from the exhaust manifold to the double clamp → 4 cylinder injection engine (1.0 litres), mechanics; Rep. Gr.26.
–  Remove the fixing bolts of the jointed half-shafts to the gearbox output shaft.
–  Remove the front left wheel.
–  Mark the fitting position of the bolts holding the ball joint to the left oscillating arm.
  N34-0916
–  Remove the bolts -arrows-.
–  Pull the wheel bearing out of the housing and raise the jointed half-shaft.
–  Tie the jointed half-shaft to the telescopic arm using a rope. Make sure no damage is caused to the protection paint of the elements.
  N40-0057
–  Loosen the central bolt from the gear selector shaft -arrow-.
  N34-0917
–  Remove the bolts -arrows- and extract the rods.
–  Remove the cable from the gear change -arrow A-.
  N34-0918
–  Extract the bolt from the lower coolant pipe -arrow-.
–  Extract the lower protective plate from the flywheel.
–  Remove the lower and upper nuts (passenger compartment side) from the bolts joining the engine and the gearbox.
  N34-0922
–  Remove the pendular support by extracting bolts -3-, nut -2- and bolt -1-.
–  Lower the vehicle.
  N40-0052
–  Fit the retainer tool -U-30025- to hold the engine.
–  Pretension the engine using the spindles of the tool.
  E34-0124
–  Extract the central bolt -arrow- joining the right engine support -1- to the elastic stop.
  E34-0125
–  Loosen the central bolt -1- of the left support of the gearbox.
–  Extract the three hexagonal bolts -arrows- from the left console for the gearbox support (one of the three bolts is not visible in the picture).
–  Carefully lean the engine unit downwards. To do this, turn the left spindle (seen from the driver position) of the tool -U-30025- until the best angle is found for extraction.
–  Raise the vehicle.
–  Remove the lower nut (radiator side) from the bolt joining the engine and the gearbox.
  N34-0921
–  Fit the lower threaded bolt -arrow- with a counternut and remove.
–  With the help of a second mechanic, separate the gearbox from the engine and move it forward to make extraction easier. Move the gear change until it comes out of the engine and remove from the vehicle taking care not to damage any parts.
  Note!
When lowering the gearbox, remember the coolant pipe and the outlet shaft on the left.
