Gearbox: checking > < ATF oil level: checking and filling

  Note!
To carry out this work it will be necessary to disconnect the battery earth strap. The vehicle should be checked for a fitted radio. If necessary, obtain radio anti-theft code first.
–  Install the torque converter → Chapter.
–  Ensure that the torque converter is in the correct position.
  Note!
The torque converter must not slip out of position while fitting as this could damage the ATF pump.
–  Before assembly, verify that the centering bushes are correctly positioned between the engine and the gearbox.
–  Bring the gearbox closer to the engine, and move the -T20145- base, and position the geabox until it is in the correct position.
–  When positioning the gearbox, ensure that the torque converter's threaded pins coincide with the bolt holes of the flywheel.
–  Installing the drive shafts: → Running gear, axles, steering; Rep. Gr.40
–  Fitting the starter motor: → Electrical system; Rep. Gr.27
–  Fit the front side engine support using the bolts -arrows-.
   
Tightening torque: 60 Nm

–  Always replace the safety washer -1- on the selector lever cable -2-.
–  Check the selector lever cable adjustment → Chapter.
–  Check the ATF level and top up → Chapter.
–  Checking the connectors of all the electrical connections (visually).
–  With the ignition switched off, connect battery earth strap. According to the vehicle equipment, the radio will have to be encoded, the clock adjusted, etc.
After assembly:
–  Begin basic setting: → VAS 5051; Vehicle self-diagnosis
–  Checking the gear drive mechanism → Chapter.
