1 - Upper protection element for the notched belt
2 - Notched belt
q   Mark direction of rotation before removing.
q   Check for wear
q   Do not bend
q   removing and fitting → Chapter
3 - 10 Nm
4 - 25 Nm
5 - 100 Nm
6 - Camshaft wheels
7 - Hub
q   With generator wheel
q   Use counter-hold tool -T10051- to loosen and tighten.
q   For removal use the extraction tool -T10052A-
q   removing and fitting → Chapter
8 - Rear notched belt guard
9 - Sleeve
q   If this is damaged, replace it
10 - Hall sender -G40-
q   For the camshaft position
q   To remove, unfasten sealing sleeve from rear of the timing belt guard → Item
11 - Cylinder head bolt
q   Replace
q   Observe sequence when loosening and tightening → Chapter.
q   Prior to installation, insert washers in cylinder head
12 - 10 Nm
q   For engine cover
13 - Cylinder head cover
q   With oil filler mouth
q   If the cylinder head cover is damaged then the oil filler mouth must also be replaced.
q   removing and fitting → Chapter
q   Before fitting, clean thoroughly the seal surface of the cylinder head using a clean cloth
14 - Hose
q   Goes to the supercharger air tube → Item
15 - 10 Nm
q   First tighten all bolts by hand
q   Next, first tighten the two bolts above and then the remaining bolts crossways from the interior towards the exterior to the indicated torque
16 - Pressure limiting valve
q   For engine block ventilation pre-heater
17 - Oil filler cap
q   Replace
18 - Sealing plug
q   Replace gasket if it shows signs of damage.
19 - Seal collaret
q   If this is damaged, replace it
20 - Spring retainer
q   With 2 fuel lines
q   With the coolant tube
21 - Cylinder head cover gasket
q   If this is damaged, replace it
22 - 20 Nm
23 - Spring retainer
24 - Injector pump
q   removing and fitting → Chapter
25 - Central connection
q   For the injector pump
26 - Hose
q   of the brake servo
27 - Tandem pump:
q   For fuel feed and low pressure
q   removing and fitting → Chapter
q   Checking → Chapter
28 - Intake hose
q   From fuel filter.
q   White or with white marking.
q   Check for secure seating.
q   Immobilise with spring clips
29 - Return hose
q   To fuel filter
q   Blue or with blue marking.
q   Check for secure seating.
q   Immobilise with spring clips
30 - Seal
q   Replace
31 - Spring retainer
32 - Conical hexagon bolt
33 - Cylinder head
q   removing and fitting → Chapter
q   Renew coolant after replacing cylinder head gasket
34 - Cylinder head gasket
q   Replace
q   Note marking → Fig..
q   Renew coolant after replacing cylinder head gasket
35 - Glow plug, 15 Nm
q   Checking → Chapter
36 - Tensioning roller
q   To avoid significant damage to the engine apply correct tightening torques
37 - 20 Nm + 45° (1/8 turn)

   
Checking cylinder head for distortion
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Auxiliary ruler
t  Calibre
Maximum permissible deformation: 0.1 mm
  Note
The cylinder heads for diesel engines may not be reworked.

Identification of cylinder head gasket
t  Part No. = -Arrow 1-
t  Production code = -Arrow 2- (can be disregarded)
t  Holes = -Arrow 3-
  Note
Different thicknesses of cylinder head gasket are fitted depending on the piston projection. When renewing gasket, install new gasket with same identification.
