Removing and installing Hall senderG40
Removing and installing Hall sender -G40-
»Carry out the following work sequence«
–  Remove engine cover panel → Chapter.
   
–  Open clips -arrows- and remove the upper toothed belt guard.
–  Remove front right wheel housing liner.
–  Remove poly V-belt → Chapter.
–  Remove the mount from the engine → Chapter
–  Remove vibration damper → Chapter.

–  Rotate engine to TDC. Lock the crankshaft sprocket using the crankshaft stop -T10050-.
–  Insert the crankshaft stop in the teeth from the face side of the toothed belt pulley.
  Note
The markings on the crankshaft toothed belt pulley -2- and the crankshaft stop -T10050--1- must align. At the same time, the pin of the crankshaft stop -T10050- must engage in the drilling in the sealing flange.

The arrow on the camshaft pulley must be at almost »12 o'clock«.

–  Unscrew the fixing bolts -arrows- of the camshaft sprocket.

–  Loosen the bolt -1- of the toothed belt sprocket of the high pressure pump by approx. 90° using the socket XZN 10 -T10385-.

–  Unscrew the securing nut of the tensioning roller -1- and turn the eccentric adjuster of the tensioning roller with the wrench -T10264- anti-clockwise -Arrow- until the tensioning roller can be locked with the Locking pin -T10265-.

–  Now turn the eccentric adjuster clockwise -arrow- as far as possible and hand tighten the fastening nut -1-.
–  Disconnect the toothed belt from the idler roller and the high pressure pump.

–  Separate connector for Hall sender -G40--arrow-.

–  Remove the Hall sender -G40- bracket -arrow-.
–  Remove the connector from the holder.

–  Unscrew Hall sender -G40--arrow-.

–  Use a screwdriver to remove webs and cover of repair opening -arrows-.
–  Remove the Hall sender -G40- from the cylinder head. Guide connector through repair opening in toothed belt guard.
Installation
Installation is in the reverse sequence of removal. Note the following:
t  Seal repair aperture in toothed belt guard with rubber plugs as specified in → ETKA (electronic parts catalogue).
–  Fit toothed belt and adjust valve timing → Chapter.
