Adapting functions and components

Special tools and workshop equipment required

t	Central diagnosis -VAS 5051B-

t	Cable 3m. -VAS 5051/5A- or cable 5m. -VAS 5051/6B-

WARNING

During the test drive, the testing and measuring equipment must always be fastened to the back seat.

When driving, only the passengers can handle this equipment, never the driver.

–	Apply handbrake.

–	Manual gearbox: Put the gear lever in neutral position.

With the engine off, connect the vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system -VAS 5051B- as follows:

–	Open the cover of the diagnosis connection.

–	Connect the vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system -VAS 5051B- via the 5m cable -VAS 5051/6B- to the connector.

–	Switch on ignition.

Note

If no indications are displayed on the screen during these operations: → Vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051

–	Press the pushbutton on the screen for guided fault finding.

–	Select successively:

Version

t	Engine codes

–	Confirm the data entered.

Wait until the equipment has consulted all the possible control units available in the vehicle.

–	Press the button Go to and select the „Select Function/ Component“ function.

–	Select „Engine“ on the screen.

–	Select „Engine code“.

–	Select „01 - Systems capable of self-diagnosis“.

–	Select „engine control“.

–	Select „Functions“.

–	Select „Function or component“.

Then all possible functions are shown.

–	Select the desired function on the screen.
