Remove
Remove
–  Remove the toothed belt → Chapter, Toothed belt: remove and install, tighten.

–  Set the crankshaft in TDC cylinder 1:
The shortened tooth of the toothed belt pinion must match the mark on the oil pump -arrow-.
  Note!
Bear in mind that there are two TDC marks on the oil pump/oil seal cover, a small one for 4V engines (right side) and a longer one for 2V engines (left side). Do not confuse the marks when setting the crankshaft in TDC, as the engine could suffer major damage.
–  Turn the crankshaft or toothed belt pinion three teeth anticlockwise from the TDC position:
The third tooth from the right of the shortened tooth -A- has to match with the TDC mark on the oil pump housing -arrow-.
  Note!
With this adjustment, the assembly position of the crankshaft is established for oil pump installation. One of the drive cams of the crankshaft is in an upper position.
–  Loosen the bolt fastening the pinion to the crankshaft toothed belt. To do so, fasten with the countersupport -T20018-.
–  Remove the toothed belt pinion from the crankshaft and the tensioning roller from the toothed belt.
–  Remove the oil sump → Chapter.
–  Remove the suction pipe → Item.
–  Remove the oil pump.
  Note!
To remove the oil pump in vehicles with an air conditioner, the support for the vane pump-compressor-alternator must be partially separated.
–  Remove the gasket.
–  Using a flat scraper, eliminate the sealant residue from the engine block.
–  Clean the contact surfaces, which should be free from oil and grease.
