Fitting
Fitting
  Note
t  When turning camshaft, crankshaft should not be at TDC. Risk of piston valves / head fault.
t  Respect the toothed belt D.O.R. - risk of breaking.

–  Align camshaft sprocket mark with marking on cylinder head cover -arrows-.
Engine installed:
  A13-0377
–  Set the crankshaft to the TDC for cylinder 1 -arrow-.
Engine removed:
  E13-0096
–  Set the damper to the TDC for cylinder 1 -arrows-.
  A13-0076
–  Carefully turn the eccentric with the rotation tool -T20197- clockwise, until the eccentric is almost at the limit -B-.
–  Place timing belt on crankshaft sprocket (observe direction of rotation).
–  Fit timing belt onto coolant pump, tensioning roller and camshaft sprocket.
–  Install tensioner for timing belt.
  E13-10049
–  Turn the eccentric with the rotation tool -T20197- anticlockwise (eccentric projection moves to the limit -A-) until the counterhold -T10008- can be removed without tension.
–  Relax the counterforce of the tensioner clockwise (the eccentric projection moves to the limit -B- until reaching the dimension -a-.
Dimension specification -a-: 4 ±1 mm
  Note
t  The dimension “a” reduces when tightening the tensioning roller securing bolt. Therefore, adjust generously with a drill of 4 mm of Ø.
t  With a hot engine, the dimension “a” may reduce to 1 mm.
–  Hold tensioning roller in this position and tighten to 20 Nm 45° (1/8 turn).
–  Install lower and centre timing belt guards.
  Note
Place the bolts into the console support before positioning it.
–  Place the console in the cylinder block and tighten bolts -arrows- to 45 Nm.
–  Install vibration damper / pulley → Chapter.
  E13-10049
–  Position the engine unit mounting, engine side -arrows-.
  Note
Tightening torques of the mechanical unit engine mountings → Chapter.
Continue the fitting, following the reverse order of the removal process.
