Secondary air pump motor: checking
Secondary air pump motor: checking
Test requirements
l  Fuse for secondary air pump relay -S176- in main fuse box of battery, must be OK
l  Intake hose for secondary air pump must not be blocked or kinked.
Test sequence
–  Remove engine cover.
–  Detach pressure hose from secondary air pump motor.
–  Activate relay for secondary air pump using final control diagnosis: → Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051.
The secondary air pump motor must function at intervals and air must emit from the exhaust grommet
If the motor functions, but no air is emitted:
–  Replace secondary air pump motor.
If secondary air pump motor does not run intermittently:
–  Check secondary air pump motor activation: → Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051.
