Support elements with hydraulic compensation: verification |
Special tools and workshop equipment required |
Note t
| Support elements with hydraulic compensation can not be repaired. |
t
| Irregular valve noise during starting is normal. |
–
| Start engine and let it run until the radiator fan has switched on once. |
–
| Increase engine speed to about 2500 rpm for 2 minutes: if necessary, perform road test. |
Note If the irregular valve noises stop but recur repeatedly during short trips, renew the oil retention valve. Installation location of oil retention valve: in the oil filter bracket → Item. |
If the hydraulic compensation elements are still noisy, determine the defective element as follows: |
–
| Turn crankshaft until the cams for the support element to be checked stand on the top. To do this move the vehicle forwards in 4th gear with ignition switched off. |
