Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Vehicle diagnosis, measuring and information system -VAS 5051 A-
–  Connect the Vehicle information, measurement and diagnosis system -VAS 5051 A- as follows:
  W00-1236
–  Plug the connector of the diagnosis cable into the diagnosis socket in the footwell on the driver's side.
–  Start engine and run at idling speed.
Only when engine does not start:
–  switch ignition on.
Selecting the operating mode:
–  On the screen, push the “Vehicle self-diagnosis” button.
Selecting vehicle system:
–  Touch the screen on “01 - Engine electronics”.

The identification of the control unit is displayed on the screen, together with its code -2-, the chassis number in the middle, and the electronic immobiliser identification number.

This information can be printed out. Now, press the “Print” button.
Select diagnostic function
–  Press button “02 - Interrogate fault memory” on display.
–  If no fault is stored in engine control unit “0 fault(s) detected” is displayed.
–  If faults are stored in the engine control unit, they will be displayed as a list.
–  Press the key.
–  Press button “05 - Erase fault memory” on display.
–  Press function “06-End output”.
  Note
After deleting the fault memory, the conformance code must be generated → Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051“Guided function”.
