Radiator: removing and fitting

Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability between Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.
   
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Torque wrench kit -SAT 8010-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Measuring tool -T10007-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Tray -T20173-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Pliers -T20174-, see equivalent → Anchor

Removing
–  First see if the vehicle has a coded radio. If so, refer to the anti-theft code.
–  With ignition switched off, disconnect earth connection from battery.
   
–  Unscrew the fastening bolts -arrows- and remove the engine noise damping cover.
–  Removing the front bumper → Front bumper trim: removing and installing ; Rep. Gr.63.
–  Drain coolant → Chapter.
–  Remove the coolant hoses → Item and → Item from the radiator.
–  Unlock the electric connection from the thermo-switch and fan for the radiator.
–  Place the lock carrier plate in service position: → Bodywork, exterior fitting work; Rep. Gr.50 .
Vehicles with air conditioning:
  WARNING
Coolant circuit of air conditioning/climate control must not be opened.
  Note
To avoid damage to the condenser and refrigerant pipes/sleeves, take care not to bend, twist or stretch the pipes/sleeves excessively.
–  Unbolt retaining clamps for refrigerant lines.
All vehicles (continued):
  N10-10175
–  Unscrew the bolts -1- that fasten the radiator to the lock carrier plate.
Vehicles with air conditioning:
–  Unscrew the bolts -2- attaching the catalytic converter to the sump.

–  Unscrew the bolt -1- that fastens the condenser to the radiator and secure to the lock carrier plate.
All vehicles (continued):
–  Remove the radiator with the fan.
Fitting
Fitting is carried out in the reverse order. When installing, note the following:

Secure all hose connections with the correct hose clips (same as original equipment) → Parts catalogue.
Filling with new coolant → Chapter.
  Note
On reconnecting battery, remember to enable the vehicle equipment (radio/radio navigation system, clock, electric window lifters) in line with the Instructions Manual. → Instruction Manual.
