Remove oil seal on hall sender → Anchor
   
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Oil seal extractor -2085-
t  Counter-hold tool -3036-
t  Assembly tool -T10071-
t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1331- (5...50 Nm)
t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1332- (40...200 Nm)

Removing
–  Remove air cleaner → Rep. Gr.24
Vehicles with engine code AJH
–  Remove intake hose → Chapter, Removing and installing parts of the charge air cooling system: engine code AJH.
Vehicles with engine code AWC
–  Remove intake hose → Chapter, Removing and installing parts of the charge air cooling system: engine code AWC.
Continuation for all vehicles
–  Remove toothed belt guard upper part.
   
–  Set camshaft toothed belt pulley to TDC No. 1 cylinder by turning crankshaft. Marking on camshaft toothed belt pulley must align with mark on cylinder head cover.
–  Remove toothed belt from camshaft pulley → Chapter.
–  Turn crankshaft back slightly.
  A15-0024
–  Remove camshaft toothed belt pulley. When loosening camshaft toothed belt pulley bolt, hold with counterhold -3036-.
  A13-0381
–  To guide oil seal extractor, screw securing bolt for camshaft pulley -arrow- into camshaft by hand to stop.
–  Unscrew inner part of oil seal extractor -2085- two turns (approx. 3 mm) out of outer part and lock with knurled screw.

–  Lubricate threaded head of oil seal extractor, place it in position and exerting firm pressure screw it into oil seal as far as possible.
–  Loosen knurled screw and turn inner part against camshaft until the oil seal is pulled out.
Installing
  Note!
Introduction of PTFE oil seals (identifying features: no circular spring, wider sealing lip). The sealing lip of this oil seal must not be additionally oiled or greased.
–  Remove oil residue from camshaft journal using a clean cloth.
  A15-0140
–  Fit fitting tool -T10071/1- onto camshaft journal.
–  Slide oil seal over guide sleeve onto camshaft journal.
–  Remove guide sleeve.
  A15-0577
–  Press seal in to stop using assembly tool -T10071/3-. Use assembly tool -T10071/4- (bolt) to do this.
–  Install camshaft toothed belt pulley. When tightening camshaft toothed belt pulley bolt, hold with counter-hold -3036-.
  A15-0586
Torque setting: 65 Nm.
Further assembly is basically the reverse of the dismantling procedure.
–  Install toothed belt and adjust valve timing → Chapter.
Remove oil seal from hall sender -G40-
–  Remove air cleaner → Rep. Gr.24
  A13-0381
–  Pull 3-pin connector from hall sender -G40--arrow-.
Vehicles with engine code AJH
–  Remove intake hose → Chapter, Removing and installing parts of the charge air cooling system: engine code AJH.
Vehicles with engine code AWC
–  Remove intake hose → Chapter, Removing and installing parts of the charge air cooling system: engine code AWC.
Continuation for all vehicles
–  Remove toothed belt guard upper part.
–  Remove Hall sender housing.
–  Remove hall sender washer and screen.

–  To guide seal extractor, screw bolt -2085/1- fully into camshaft by hand.
–  Unscrew inner part of oil seal extractor -2085- two turns (approx. 3 mm) out of outer part and lock with knurled screw.

–  Lubricate threaded head of oil seal extractor, place it in position and exerting firm pressure screw it into oil seal as far as possible.
–  Loosen knurled screw and turn inner part against camshaft until the oil seal is pulled out.
Installing
  Note!

–  Fit fitting tool -T10071/5- onto camshaft journal.
–  Slide oil seal over guide sleeve onto camshaft journal.
–  Remove guide sleeve.
  A15-0666
–  Press seal in to stop using assembly tool -T10071/3-. To do this use bolt M8x60 -1-.
–  Insert hall sender screen into notch in inlet camshaft.
–  Install washer (cone facing outwards) and tighten securing bolt to 25 Nm.
–  Install Hall sender housing and tighten to 10 Nm.
Vehicles with engine code AJH
–  Install intake hose → Chapter, Removing and installing parts of the charge air cooling system: engine code AJH.
Vehicles with engine code AWC
–  Install intake hose → Chapter, Removing and installing parts of the charge air cooling system: engine code AWC.
Continuation for all vehicles
–  Install toothed belt guard upper part.

–  Attach connector to hall sender -G40--arrow-.
–  Install air filter → Rep. Gr.24.
