General instructions: ignition system
  Note!
t  This chapter deals only with those components related solely the ignition. Other injection system components and ignition → Chapter.
t  Before disconnecting or connecting the battery, switch off the ignition; failure to do so, could have considerable effect on the engine control unit.
t  The engine control unit has self-diagnosis.
t  To ensure optimum functioning electrical components a minimum voltage of 11.5 V is required.
t  Before carrying out a reparation and for fault finding, consult the fault memory → Chapter.
t  In some tests the control unit may detect and store fault. Thus, once all tests and reparations are done, consult the fault memory, clear it if necessary → Chapter.
t  If, after fault finding, reparation or component test, the engine starts up briefly and then cuts out, this may be due to the immobiliser blocking the engine control unit. If so, consult the fault memory and, if necessary, adapt the control unit → Chapter.
Safety measures → Chapter.
Test data, sparkplugs → Chapter.
