Aluminium engine block

Aluminium engine block
  Caution
Do not remove the crankshaft. Just loosening the crankshaft bearing cap bolts deforms the crankshaft bearings.
These deformations reduce the play in the bearings, and if the half bearings are not replaced damage may result to the bearings due to incorrect play.
If the cap bolts have been loosened the complete engine block with crankshaft must be replaced.
Crankshaft bearing play cannot be measured with equipment available in the shop.
